A neck lift is a procedure performed under general or local anesthesia for patients with a sagging neck. For a harmonious result usually it is combined with a lifting of the lower third of the face (see. Lifting of face).
A slight excess of fat under the jaw line can also be improved with liposuction in young patients with elastic skin. However, a significant excess of skin requires a rearrangement of the same and the underlying muscles. This is usually performed as part of the facelift procedure. Occasionally, a separate incision under the chin of 4 cm is needed to repair the loose neck muscles (Diastasis of Platysma).
